Deiva Thirumagal’s global impact

The Vikram-starrer is now the frontrunner for an international film festival...

The Deiva Thirumagal team is on cloud nine. After all, the film, which garnered good reviews from the critics, has apparently, been selected to represent India at the Asia Pacific Awards this year. The award ceremony will be held in Brisbane, Australia, in November. The film, starring Vikram, Anushka, Amala Paul and Baby Sara, has been nominated by the Film Federation of India and the National Film Development Corporation.

Director Vijay says, “I got a call from the producer, Ananda Suresh. He told me the film will be sent to Brisbane for the prestigious awards function. I was totally surprised because I wasn’t aware of the plans of my producers to send the film for the awards. I feel honoured and thank the producers and the jury members for giving the film such recognition. Even if the film doesn’t win any award, I would feel happy it was screened to international audiences.”

Vijay, meanwhile, has plans of sending the film to various other international film festivals in the coming months. This movie has also been close to Vikram’s heart as he considers it one of the most challenging roles of his career. Incidentally, Vikram and Vijay are teaming up once again for another Tamil film.
