The overseas theoretical rights of Maniratnam’s magnum opus ‘Raavanan’ have been sold off by Big Pictures and Madras Talkies to London based Karunamoorthy of Ayngaran International. There is a buzz that it was sold for a record prize of more than 6 crores as Maniratnam is said to be the king in the overseas market after his earlier film ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’.

Ayngaran International is planning to release the movie in more number of screens than Rajinikanth’s ‘Sivaji’. The Hindi version ‘Raavan’ was directly distributed by Reliance Big Pictures and the Tamil version ‘Raavanan’ is facing heavy competition among themselves for theaters.
