Karikalan's Script Tales | CVF

Here’s a little secret about Vikram's upcoming flick Karikalan that not many know! We hear that the entire script of the film was actually written by A R Gandhikrishna (of Chellame and Aanandha Thaandavam fame), but the credits in the posters released till date have no mention of him.

A source says, “More than a year ago, L I Kannan from a computer graphics background, showed interest in movies and was introduced to Gandhikrishna through a common friend. Gandhikrishna was requested to pen a script. He first sent Kannan a one-liner and once that was approved, went ahead to write the synopsis.”

After that, Gandhikrishna started working on the shooting script, which is the industry terminology for the written story with details of camera angles, etc. “It took him almost eight months to work out the entire script,” adds the source, “He then gave it to Kannan, who is now making it into a film with Vikram.” The film will have Zarine Khan as one of the leading ladies, besides featuring Mithra Kurian and Radhika Apte.

The subject of Karikalan, which revolves around the man who built one of the first dams in the country, will require a lot of computer graphics and that’s where Kannan comes into the picture.

When we contacted Gandhikrishna, who will announce his next film in a couple of weeks’ time, he declined to comment.

Director L.I Kannan says who is busy filming Karikalan, “I’m a debutant director and just like any fresher to the industry, I consulted Gandhikrishna who is a senior director and he gave me some suggestions. However, the entire story has been developed by me.”
