Suseendhran, who is known for his realistic films, is back with a full fledged commercial flick, Rajapaatai, starring Vikram. Rajapaatai is the big ticket for Suseendhran. He spoke to DC about his stint with the National Award-winning star and the reason he shifted gears. “I do agree it's not my type of film. But, as a filmmaker, the idea of making a commercial mass entertainer was on my mind for a long time. When Vikram called me and said he wanted to do a film with me, who would want to miss such an opportunity? In fact, I did not even have a script for a star like Vikram. But my friend Seenu had a one-liner which appealed to both of us,“ he explains. He says of Vikram, “He is a very simple person and comfortable to work with. He always comes for shooting before time, stays on for extended hours and at times he has worked even 48 hours at a stretch without a break. He is a workaholic and he's doing a commercial film after a gap.“
The subject is topical -`land grabbing'. “Yes, it's about land mafia but has no reference to any one in real life. The script was finalised much before the last elections. It is about the relation ship between an old man (played by ace T'town filmmaker K.Vishwanath) who approaches Vikram when he faces a problem from land grabbers. How the latter resolves this is narrated in an entertaining and fast-paced style,“ he describes. an entertaining and fast-paced style,“ he describe Deeksha Seth ventures into Tamil with Rajapaatai Her role is limited to spicing up the proceedings with dance routines and some hot, eye-catch ing costumes. “We just needed a goodlook ing heroine and Deeksha fitted the bill.
Plus we have these two gorgeous ladies Shriya and Reema in a special song to add to the glam quotient,“ Suseendhran adds. His close buddy Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is already rocking on all the channels.
