The duo might star in director Shankar’s next
This is one announcement everyone connected to cinema is standing by for. The reticent Shankar, India’s highest-paid filmmaker, who put himself on the Asian map with the 200-plus cr mega-grosser Robot with Rajinikanth and followed by Nanban, will return to the big screen with Vikram, the Kollywood actor who romanced Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan.
Our source says, “Shankar’s next will have the National Award-winning Tamil actor Vikram and the music will be by A R Rahman. In all likelihood, the girl who will romance Vikram will be Deepika Padukone.” We messaged Deepika, who is currently shooting in Manali with Ranbir Kapoor, but she chose not to comment. Her spokesperson refuses to confirm this because talks are still in the very early stage.
However, our source adds, “Deepika is kicked about being considered by Shankar, the man who gave Ash films like Jeans and Robot. Also, it will be her second big south outing after Kochadaiyaan opposite Rajinikanth and is likely to give her an elevated positioning down south.’’
