Thaandavam

 What it is about…

The audio of UTV Motion Pictures’ Thaandavam was released by directors Bala and Lingusamy and received by directors Vasanthabalan, Vettrimaran, Simbudevan, A. R. Gandhi Krishna, Pushkar-Gayathri, Eldred Kumar and Shankar Dayal. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, the film is directed by Vijay. Nirav Shah has handled the camera and Anthony is the editor.

The Vikram-starrer marks G. V. Prakash Kumar’s 25th film as music director. The lyrics are written by Na. Muthukumar. Besides Vikram, the cast includes Amy Jackson, Anushka, Lakshmi Rai, Jagapathi Babu, Nasser, M. S. Bhaskar and Thambiramaiah. It is the story of a cop who has a unique way of tackling criminals.

Music highlights

‘Siva Thaandavam’, the title number sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam, is the best in the album with ‘Yaaradi Mohini,’ sung by Rahul Nambiar and Megha, coming next. ‘Oru Paadhi Kadhavu,’ sung by Haricharan and Vandana Srinivasan, ‘Adhigaalai Pookkal,’ sung by G. V. Prakash, ‘Uyirin Yuyire,’ sung by Saindavi, Sathya Prakash and the music director, and ‘Anicham Poovazhagi,’ sung by Chinna Ponnu, Velmurugan along with G. V., are the other good songs in the album. Besides, there are two English tracks, ‘Will you be there’ sung by Alyssa and Maria and ‘A Poem for You’ sung by the music director.

 What they say…
 Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur:

After working with Vikram in Deivathirumagal, director Vijay approached us with an unusual script and we greenlighted the project. I saw some portions of the film; I am sure it will be a visual treat for the Tamil audience.

 Director Vijay:

When Vikram expressed his desire to do another film with me, I was elated. Not wanting to waste his talent in action and comedy, I decided to showcase him in a new light in Thaandavam. Knowing Vikram, he excels in every frame.

Hero Vikram:

When director Vijay and I team up on a project, people’s expectations about it only grow. My character in Thaandavam will surely make people, especially my fans, watch it more than once. When I saw the visually challenged Daniel Kish, I was amazed at the way he leads his life. I learnt a lot from him to portray my role.

Music director G. V. Prakash Kumar:

This is my fourth film with director Vijay and it happens to be my 25th as composer. I am glad the songs of Thaandavam have come out well and hope they remain etched in people’s memory. After the audio release, I have got a wonderful response from different quarters.
